WHAT DO WE DO

We help our clients to mobilize, train and build awareness among their workforce to increase productivity within their organizations and create opportunities for rural communities to connect to larger markets.

We  have existing programmes in the plantation, hospitality, apparel and artisan craft sectors, but are able to adapt to various sectors based on client requirements.

Through our Workplace, Marketplace and Social Enterprise divisions we provide tailored projects to suit our clients’ requirements using a combination of services:

Project Management

Project management is at the core of what we do. Building on our experience with CARE, we have been trusted by public and private sector clients to deliver projects that bring tangible results while improving their business.

We support our clients in the corporate sector invest in socially responsible initiatives that complement their visions and ideals while benefitting communities. We work with them to implement and manage projects on time and within budget.

We assist clients to navigate through issues that come up in the workplace such as discrimination, inequality and the ability to be heard, by developing strategies that address these challenges. The projects we design and manage include mobilization, awareness, training and facilitation that are tailored to meet our clients’ needs and help create dignified work places.

Training and Skills Development

We provide technical skills through our extensive partner network, and provide in-house expertise to tailor training programmes on communication, leadership, time management, gender equality and diversity, conflict resolution, business skills and enterprise development to suit client needs.

Enterprise Development

Staying competitive in today’s world of business means finding approaches that ensure sustainability.

We help our clients identify skill gaps in their business and provide support to fill the requirement. We help design and implement projects through our social enterprise incubation programme that includes expertise on business development and management skills.

Facilitation & Networking

We connect our clients in the private sector with small scale producers. We mobilize communities into collectives that connect with and supply to buyers directly, in the process helping entire communities uplift their income.

Understanding the importance of communication, we advise our clients in the private sector on how to develop approaches that will help them engage in discussion with their employees in order to create productive and pleasant work environments.

We have pioneered forums for employers and employees to discuss issues and come to an understanding in the tea plantation sector, helping improve the social return on investment of tea plantation companies and its communities.

Selvamalar’s Story

Selvamalar runs a successful food processing business in Mullaitivu.  She currently employs 8 women and runs a certified kitchen with established market links.  She has also single-handedly raised 2 children who are now independent adults.  Selvamalar knows only too well the hardships of life, having survived a war, multiple displacements, and abandonment by her husband. She has only grown stronger through these challenges and now expends her time improving her business in order to support vulnerable women by providing them employment.

She successfully applied for a business grant provided through Chrysalis’ partnership with CARE Netherlands and H&M Foundation and used these funds to further expand her business, subsequently being featured on their Foundation 500 list of successful female business leaders.

Chrysalis endeavors to support women’s groups engaged in businesses to support the local economy and uplift the position of vulnerable women in society.
