Planning Workshop: Industry Promotional Councils, Monaragala District
A Planning Workshop for the Industrial Promotional Councils of Monaragala District was successfully conducted with the support of the EU-funded IGNITE Project. The workshop provided a key platform for political leaders, government officials, and development stakeholders to jointly discuss and plan the future direction of industrial development and strengthen the functioning of Industrial Promotional Councils within the district.
The event brought together a wide range of participants, including the District Secretary, Additional District Secretary, Additional Director of SEED Mr. Ruwan Wijeweera, the Member of Parliament for Monaragala District, the Chairman of the Kataragama Pradeshiya Sabha, and other representatives from local government institutions. Senior officials from all 11 Divisional Secretariat Divisions (DSDs) in the district also took part, reflecting strong institutional commitment to coordinated planning and implementation.
Adding a community-driven perspective, three producer group leaders affiliated with the IGNITE Project actively participated in the discussions. Their contributions helped ensure that grassroots-level experiences and priorities were incorporated into the planning process.
The workshop created an important opportunity for stakeholders to align development priorities, enhance collaboration among institutions, and build a shared vision for promoting industrial growth and entrepreneurship across the Monaragala District.
