Ishani Sevwandi: Rebuilding a Business Against All Odds

After COVID-19 and Sri Lanka’s economic crisis devastated her manioc chip business, Ishani Sevwandi from Weeralanda, Arachchikattuwa, faced unemployment while her husband sought work abroad. With guidance and financial support from Chrysalis, she attended business and technical training, developed a business plan, and received a grant of Rs. 200,000 to restart her venture. Today, Ishani runs her home-based chip business, earning around Rs. 70,000 per month, with plans to scale up production and diversify into other fried snacks, regaining financial independence and hope for the future.
